How Much Material Do You Need?

A 5-yard load is our standard delivery size:

  • Gravel driveway (50 ft × 10 ft, 4" deep): approximately 6 yards
  • RV pad (12 ft × 40 ft, 4" deep): approximately 7 yards
  • Landscaping beds (400 sq ft, 3" deep): approximately 4 yards

Gravel Driveway: Crushed Rock vs. Drain Rock

Crushed rock (5/8" minus) is the most popular choice for driveways. The angular edges lock together under traffic, creating a stable surface.

Drain rock (1.5" round) is better for drainage applications — French drains and dry creek beds. Not ideal for driveways.

For most Pierce County driveways, we recommend 4–6 inches of compacted crushed rock base.
